Build a trip to Chengdu
Huanhuaxi Park is a broad urban landscape surrounding the Du Fu Thatched Cottage area, combining wetlands, streams, woodland, lawns and poetry-themed cultural spaces. Its name refers to the Flower-Washing Brook associated with local literary tradition, and the park uses water as a continuous element connecting planted habitats with paths and open civic areas. Bamboo and native vegetation give many sections the atmosphere of a natural river corridor despite the central-city location. Poetry sculptures, inscriptions and proximity to Du Fu’s memorial landscape reinforce Chengdu’s identity as a city of literature. At the same time, restored wetland and bird habitat make the park an ecological space rather than a purely ornamental extension of the cottage. The integration of literary memory, public recreation and urban water management gives Huanhuaxi an unusually layered role among Chengdu’s parks.
