Build a trip to Chengdu
Chengdu Museum stands on Tianfu Square and presents the long history of the Chengdu Plain through archaeology, urban culture, folk art and changing exhibitions. Its contemporary building is wrapped in a bronze-gold skin whose lifted form opens toward the civic square, creating a strong visual relationship between museum and city center. Galleries trace settlement from prehistoric communities and ancient Shu culture through imperial Chengdu and the modern metropolis, while objects, maps and reconstructed scenes make the evolution of streets and everyday life tangible. The museum is particularly noted for its extensive collection of Chinese shadow puppets and traditional puppetry, which brings together performance, carving, costume and regional storytelling. Archaeological material explains why Chengdu remained a major political and commercial center within the Sichuan Basin, and later displays reveal the city’s distinctive food, craft and leisure traditions. The combination of local history and performing arts gives the institution a broader identity than a conventional municipal museum.

Built in 1911, this is the first public park in Chengdu and the spiritual home of the city's legendary 'slow life.' The centerpiece is the century-old Heming Teahouse, where hundreds of people sit on bamboo chairs around low tables
Occupying the northern end of Tianfu Square, this museum is housed in a grand Soviet-style building topped with a giant statue of Mao Zedong

The symbolic and geographical center of Chengdu, Tianfu Square is often compared to Beijing's Tiananmen
