Campuhan Ridge Walk
Build a trip to Bali
About
The Campuhan Ridge Walk offers a scenic escape from the bustling center of Ubud, leading you along a paved path atop a lush green ridge. The trail is flanked by two river valleys—the Sungai Wos and Sungai Cerik—and offers views of traditional thatched-roof villas and sprawling jungle. It is a sensory delight, filled with the sound of cicadas and the sight of swaying elephant grass. The walk is relatively easy and flat, making it accessible for most fitness levels. Experts suggest starting the walk at sunrise when the valley is often filled with a mystical morning mist. Pro tip: There is very little shade along the ridge; avoid walking between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM as the tropical sun can be punishing. End your walk at Karsa Kafe for a refreshing coconut with a view of the lotus ponds.

Since 1995, Naughty Nuri's has been a legendary institution in Ubud, famous for its 'wicked' pork ribs and brutal martinis. The atmosphere is unpretentious and gritty, with smoke rising from the street-side grill and walls adorned with quirky memorabilia. The sensory experience is dominated by the aroma of caramelizing soy-based sauce and the lively chatter of travelers from around the world. Experts recommend the signature BBQ Pork Ribs, which are fall-off-the-bone tender. Pro tip: Don't miss the 'Martini Dance' performed by the staff whenever a cocktail is ordered. It gets incredibly busy, so be prepared for a communal dining experience where you might share a table with strangers.
Room4Dessert
Room4Dessert is the brainchild of pastry chef Will Goldfarb, featured on Netflix’s 'Chef’s Table.' This isn't just a dessert shop; it’s a multi-stage culinary journey through a 21-course tasting menu that moves guests from the garden to the bar to the dining room. The menu focuses on medicinal Balinese herbs and forgotten local ingredients, turned into avant-garde sweets and snacks. The sensory experience is whimsical and intellectually stimulating, paired with low-intervention wines and creative elixirs. Experts recommend the 'Full Experience' to truly understand Goldfarb’s philosophy. Pro tip: This is a long experience (approx. 2-3 hours), so don't plan a heavy dinner beforehand. It’s located in a beautiful garden setting that is particularly atmospheric in the early evening.
Naughty Nuri's Warung
An Ubud institution since 1995, this legendary open-air warung has been serving what many consider Bali's best pork ribs slow-cooked over coconut charcoal for hours until falling off the bone, glazed with a secret recipe barbecue marinade that has made them a pilgrimage destination for meat lovers from around the world. The martinis are notoriously strong and the wooden tables fill quickly with a mix of expat regulars and tourists who discovered the place through word of mouth before its global fame exploded. The simple menu of ribs, satay, and rice dishes served amid the soundtrack of clinking glasses and animated conversation at communal tables captures the casual, joyful spirit of Bali dining at its best.
Locavore NXT
Locavore NXT is the ambitious evolution of Bali’s most celebrated restaurant, pushing the boundaries of hyper-local sustainability. Set in a futuristic, purpose-built structure, the dining experience revolves around ingredients exclusively sourced from the Indonesian archipelago—no imported dairy, wheat, or citrus. The multi-course tasting menu is a sensory journey through Indonesia's biodiversity, featuring fermented elements, forest-foraged greens, and ethically raised proteins. The architecture integrates the kitchen and dining space, allowing guests to witness the intense craftsmanship behind each plate. Experts recommend opting for the local beverage pairing, which includes innovative ferments and infusions. Pro tip: Reservations must be made months in advance via their website; inform them of any dietary restrictions early, though the 'no substitutions' policy is strictly upheld to preserve the integrity of the menu.
