Build a trip to Xiamen
Jimei School Village is a waterfront educational district developed through the philanthropy of Tan Kah Kee, combining active campuses, memorial sites and distinctive architecture. Arched roofs, stone façades and landscaped spaces express a regional style shaped by both Fujian and overseas influences. Because schools continue to operate here, access to campus interiors is not automatically available and visitor routes must respect security and academic activity. The district is best explored through clearly public landmarks and the waterfront, with historical context linking the architecture to education, migration and overseas Chinese philanthropy. Tan Kah Kee used overseas wealth to establish schools and public institutions, making education the organizing purpose of the district. Buildings combine southern Fujian roof forms with modern materials and symmetrical plans in what became known as the Jiageng style. Waterfront memorials and active campuses preserve the link between architecture, philanthropy and the overseas Chinese experience.
