About
Immortalized by the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi, this legendary three-Michelin-star omakase restaurant run by 99-year-old master Jiro Ono in a Ginza subway station has redefined what sushi can be, with each piece of nigiri representing decades of obsessive refinement and the finest seasonal fish from Tsukiji. The 20-minute experience costs over ¥40,000 per person and reservations must be made months in advance through a hotel concierge, yet it remains the most coveted dining reservation in the world. The counter seats only ten guests who experience each piece served at precisely the right temperature and must eat immediately upon being placed before them.

Tempura Kondo
Chef Fumio Kondo is a legend who revolutionized tempura by making vegetables the star of the show. His two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Ginza is famous for its ultra-thin, light batter that preserves the natural moisture and flavor of the ingredients. The signature dish is his 'Carrot Shreds'—a towering nest of julienned carrots—and the 'Sweet Potato,' which is thick-cut and fried for over 30 minutes to achieve a cake-like texture. Dining here is an elegant, sensory experience where you watch each piece being fried with surgical precision at the counter.
Ippudo Ginza
Ippudo is the global face of Hakata Tonkotsu ramen, and its Ginza branch offers the brand's classic experience in a polished, upscale environment. Their signature thin, straight noodles are served in a silky-smooth pork bone broth that has been simmered for 18 hours. Choose the 'Shiromaru' for the classic taste or 'Akamaru' for a modern twist with spicy miso and garlic oil. Their 'Hakata Bite-sized Gyoza' and spicy bean sprouts (provided for free at the table) are the perfect side dishes. It's a reliable, high-quality ramen experience that is very welcoming to international guests.
Hamarikyu Gardens
A stunning Edo-period landscape garden that once served as a private hunting ground for the Shogun. It is unique for its 'Shioiri-no-ike' (tidal pond), which uses seawater from Tokyo Bay that rises and falls with the tides. In the center of the pond sits the 'Nakajima No Chaya' teahouse, where visitors can enjoy matcha and traditional sweets while crossing a long cypress bridge. The garden offers a spectacular visual contrast, with its ancient pine trees and meticulously kept lawns framed by the futuristic glass towers of the Shiodome business district.
Tsukiji Outer Market
Despite the relocation of the wholesale fish auctions to Toyosu, the Tsukiji Outer Market remains the ultimate culinary destination for seafood lovers. It is a labyrinth of narrow alleys packed with over 400 stalls selling everything from 'Uni' (sea urchin) and 'O-toro' (fatty tuna) to premium Japanese chef knives and dried kelp. The atmosphere is electric, with vendors shouting their daily specials. It’s best to arrive by 8:00 AM to enjoy a sushi breakfast and try street snacks like tamagoyaki (sweet omelet) and grilled scallops with butter before the midday crowds arrive.
