Singapore Zoo
Build a trip to Singapore
About
Known for its 'open concept,' the Singapore Zoo uses hidden barriers like moats and glass to separate animals from visitors, creating a more natural habitat feel. Historically, it was pioneered by Dr. Ong Swee Law in 1973. The sensory experience is a lush tropical trek where orangutans swing above your head and white tigers roam in verdant enclosures. Experts recommend the 'Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife' for a unique opportunity to dine near the orangutans. Pro tip: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring plenty of insect repellent. The zoo is quite large, so taking the internal tram is a good way to save energy. Arrive early at 8:30 AM to see the animals at their most active before the midday heat kicks in.

Singapore Night Safari
The world's first nocturnal wildlife park houses over 2,500 animals representing 130 species across 40 hectares of secondary rainforest, all observed by tram and on foot under specially designed lighting that mimics natural moonlight without disturbing the animals' nighttime behavior. Watching Malayan tigers padding through the darkness, Himalayan griffon vultures roosting on massive trees, and Asiatic lions surveying their moonlit domain creates wildlife encounters utterly different from any daytime zoo experience. The Creatures of the Night show featuring trained owls, otters, and civets demonstrating natural behaviors, and the torchlight trails through dense jungle, make the Night Safari a completely unique wildlife experience found nowhere else in the world.
River Wonders
Asia's first and only river-themed wildlife park, River Wonders is inspired by the world's most iconic rivers like the Amazon, Nile, and Yangtze. Historically, it was built to highlight the fragile ecosystems of freshwater habitats. The sensory experience is diverse—from the humid 'Amazon Flooded Forest' featuring massive manatees to the cool, quiet Giant Panda Forest. Experts recommend the 'Amazon River Quest' boat ride for a closer look at the animals of the South American rainforest. Pro tip: The park is mostly sheltered, making it a great option for rainy days. Don't miss Kai Kai and Jia Jia, the resident giant pandas; the panda enclosure is climate-controlled and offers a refreshing break from the outdoor heat.
Night Safari
The Night Safari is the world's first nocturnal wildlife park, providing a unique look at animals in their nighttime habitats using subtle, moon-like lighting. Historically, it is a global leader in nocturnal animal research and conservation. The sensory experience is thrilling and mysterious; riding the tram through the dark forest while spotting elusive leopards and fishing cats is a pulse-racing highlight. The sound of the jungle at night is truly immersive. Experts recommend walking the four interlinked trails (like the Fishing Cat Trail) to see animals not visible from the tram. Pro tip: Book your entry time slot in advance online. The first slot at 7:15 PM is the most popular; for a quieter experience, choose the 9:15 PM slot when the crowds have thinned and the animals are often more active.
Bird Paradise
Bird Paradise is Asia's largest bird park, having recently relocated from Jurong to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve in 2023. This state-of-the-art facility features eight immersive walk-through aviaries that replicate diverse global habitats, from the African rainforests to the Australian outback. The sensory experience is a vibrant symphony of birdsong and a kaleidoscope of feathers, especially at the 'Hong Leong Foundation Crimson Wetlands' with its stunning red ibises and pink flamingos. Experts recommend catching the 'Wings of the World' show to witness the incredible natural talents of diverse species. Pro tip: Arrive at 9:00 AM to see the birds at their most active. The park involves a fair amount of walking, so utilize the shuttle service between the entrance and the central hub, and be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen for the more open areas.
