Build a trip to Singapore
About
With a heritage dating back to 1956, Palm Beach is often credited as one of the original creators of the Chilli Crab recipe. Situated at One Fullerton, the restaurant provides a sophisticated dining atmosphere with a direct, stunning view of the Merlion and the Marina Bay Sands. The sensory experience is upscale—refined service, high-quality seafood, and a vibrant waterfront backdrop. Their 'Black Pepper Crab' and 'Honey Tangy Barramundi' are equally legendary. Experts recommend booking a terrace table for the 8 PM or 9 PM laser light show over the bay. Practical pro tip: While pricier than East Coast outlets, the prime location and historical significance make it a top choice for business dinners or special romantic occasions.

Merlion Park
Merlion Park is home to Singapore’s national icon—the Merlion, a mythical creature with a lion’s head and a fish’s body. Historically, the fish symbolizes Singapore’s humble beginnings as a fishing village (Temasek), while the lion represents the city's original name (Singapura). The sensory experience is defined by the refreshing mist from the 8.6-meter water-spouting statue and the wide-open views of the Marina Bay waterfront. It is arguably the most photographed spot in the country. Experts recommend visiting early in the morning (before 8:00 AM) to avoid the massive tourist crowds. Pro tip: For a unique photo angle, walk along the Esplanade Bridge nearby. Also, don't miss the smaller 'Merlion Cub' statue located just behind the main one, which is often much easier to approach for a selfie.
Asian Civilisations Museum
Nestled along the Singapore River in a grand neoclassical building, the ACM is the only museum in the region dedicated to exploring the artistic heritage of Asia. Historically, the building served as various government offices during the colonial era. The museum’s 'Tang Shipwreck' gallery is a world-class highlight, showcasing thousands of ceramics recovered from a 9th-century vessel. The sensory experience is one of quiet elegance and scholarly depth, featuring intricate gold jewelry, sacred sculptures, and exquisite textiles. Experts recommend the 'Scholar in Chinese Culture' gallery for its refined aesthetic. Pro tip: After your visit, enjoy a quiet walk along the river toward Clarke Quay; the museum often hosts evening 'after-hours' programs on the last Friday of the month with free performances and workshops.
Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay
Affectionately known as 'The Durians' due to its twin glass domes covered in over 7,000 aluminum sunshades, the Esplanade is Singapore's premier performing arts center. Historically, it was built to place Singapore on the global cultural map. The sensory experience is one of architectural wonder and artistic buzz, featuring world-class acoustics in its Concert Hall and Theatre. The outdoor waterfront stage often hosts free nightly performances with the stunning skyline as a backdrop. Experts recommend checking the 'Offstage' program for free daily arts events. Pro tip: The rooftop garden offers one of the best free vantage points for a panoramic view of Marina Bay; it’s a quiet spot perfect for photos away from the crowds at Merlion Park.
Labyrinth
Chef LG Han’s Michelin-starred Labyrinth offers a revolutionary 'New-Singaporean' dining experience. Historically, it is known for deconstructing and reimagining local hawker favorites into avant-garde fine-dining dishes. The sensory experience is playful and intellectually stimulating—a 'Chilli Crab' that looks like a dessert, or 'Chicken Rice' presented in unexpected textures. The flavors remain deeply authentic to Singaporean roots while the presentation is world-class. Experts recommend the 'Homage to My Grandmother' dish. Practical pro tip: Located in the Esplanade Mall, it is the perfect spot for a pre-theater dinner; the menu is a fixed tasting experience, so notify them of any dietary requirements well in advance to enjoy the full creative narrative of the meal.
