The interior is themed with traditional Korean motifs mixed with modern luxury. It features a wide array of games including Baccarat, Blackjack, and Roulette, alongside the latest electronic gaming machines. The atmosphere is intense and vibrant, attracting international visitors from all over the world. Experts recommend the venue for its high-quality complimentary food and drinks for active players. COEX Aquarium
Located within the massive COEX Mall, this is one of South Korea's largest aquariums, featuring over 40,000 sea creatures from 650 species. The aquarium is uniquely themed around the 'Water Journey,' taking visitors from the Andean mountains through the Amazon rainforest to the deep blue sea. A cultural highlight is the 'Korean Garden' section, where local fish swim in traditional lotus ponds and stone basins. The sensory highlight is the undersea tunnel, where sharks and stingrays glide directly overhead. Experts recommend the sardine performance for its synchronized underwater choreography. Pro tip: It is an excellent rainy-day activity. Since it's located inside the mall, you can combine it with a visit to the Starfield Library, but try to avoid weekend afternoons when families with children crowd the exhibits.
Bongeunsa Temple
Founded in 794, Bongeunsa is a serene Buddhist sanctuary standing in stark, beautiful contrast to the towering skyscrapers of Gangnam. It is famous for its 23-meter tall statue of the Maitreya Buddha, one of the largest in Korea, overlooking the city. During Buddha's Birthday, the temple is adorned with thousands of colorful lotus lanterns, creating a breathtaking visual spectacle. The experience is meditative, with the sound of rhythmic wooden gongs and the scent of sandalwood incense providing a spiritual reset. Experts recommend participating in the 'Temple Stay' program for a few hours to learn traditional tea ceremonies. Pro tip: Visit during the late afternoon to witness the evening chanting ceremony, which is open to the public and deeply moving.
Seonjeongneung Royal Tombs
Seonjeongneung is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the heart of Gangnam, containing the burial mounds of King Seongjong, his queen, and King Jungjong. These royal tombs are designed according to Feng Shui principles, nestled within a lush, tranquil forest that serves as a 'green lung' for the surrounding business district. The mounds are guarded by stone statues of scholars and military officials. The sensory experience is a rare silence in the middle of the city, with the scent of pine needles and the sound of wind in the trees. Experts recommend the walking path that loops around the entire site for a meditative 45-minute stroll. Pro tip: It is a favorite spot for local office workers to walk during lunch; visit during the early morning for a truly spiritual and quiet experience.
