Build a trip to Harbin
Sun Island is a large park and recreational landscape on the north side of the Songhua River, containing woodland, gardens, wetlands and seasonal attractions. Summer emphasizes walking, cycling and open green space, while winter areas may host snow sculpture and related events under separate operating arrangements. The island is too extensive to treat as one compact garden, and transport between entrances and selected zones should be planned in advance. Views across the river connect it with central Harbin, but weather, temporary event boundaries and seasonal closures can change the practical route significantly. The island’s forests, meadows and wetlands occupy a broad area within the Songhua River system opposite central Harbin. Landscaped gardens and cultural facilities coexist with seasonal snow-sculpture traditions, giving the park different identities across the year. Its open terrain also reveals the ecological setting around the river, which is often hidden by dense development on the southern bank.
