Build a trip to Xiamen
Xiamen Railway Culture Park reuses a former railway corridor as a linear pedestrian greenway through tunnels, vegetation and established neighborhoods. Rails and infrastructure traces recall the route’s transport history, but the experience is primarily an urban walk rather than a museum with a large rolling-stock collection. Different access points create different lengths, and some sections connect naturally with botanical-garden or older-city itineraries. Visitors should choose an entry and exit in advance, expect humid outdoor conditions and pay attention to cyclists and local users sharing the narrow corridor. The preserved corridor belonged to a railway that connected industrial and port areas through the city. Tracks, cuttings and tunnels create a linear record of infrastructure now softened by vegetation and neighborhood use. Its transformation into public space illustrates how Xiamen has reused obsolete transport landscapes while retaining traces of the industrial city beneath its resort image.
