Joe's Pizza (Greenwich Village)
Build a trip to New York City
About
Founded in 1975 by Joe Pozzuoli, who still oversees the operation, this is the archetypal New York 'slice joint.' It’s a no-frills, standing-room-mostly establishment that has served everyone from local students to Hollywood stars. The pizza is characterized by a thin, crisp crust, a balanced tomato sauce, and high-quality mozzarella—no 'gourmet' toppings, just tradition. The sensory experience is fast-paced, with the heat of the ovens and the iconic neon sign. Expert recommendation: Stick to the 'Plain Cheese Slice' to appreciate the perfect ratio of ingredients. Pro tip: The line moves quickly, so have your cash or card ready. Take your slice and walk a block over to Father Demo Square to eat like a local while people-watching in the heart of the Village.

Nearby Attractions
Minetta Tavern
Once a haunt for Ernest Hemingway and E.E. Cummings, Minetta Tavern was reborn as a 'Parisian steakhouse in Greenwich Village.' It retains its historic murals and red leather booths, exuding a sense of literary history and old-world grit. The energy is high, the lighting is low, and the service is professional. It’s a place where the history of New York feels palpable in every corner. Expert recommendation: You are here for the 'Black Label Burger,' a selection of prime dry-aged beef cuts that is legendary among food critics. Pro tip: It is incredibly difficult to get a prime-time reservation. Try booking a late-night slot (after 10:00 PM); the atmosphere stays lively until closing, and the kitchen doesn't miss a beat.
Dante NYC
Dante has been a Greenwich Village staple since 1915, originally serving as a gathering place for the neighborhood’s Italian community. Recently revitalized, it now ranks among the world's best bars, specializing in aperitivos and Negronis. The decor is airy and classic, with green leather booths and an old-world espresso bar. The vibe is sophisticated yet approachable, perfect for a mid-afternoon drink. Expert recommendation: Order a 'Negroni' from their dedicated Negroni Sessions menu or the 'Garibaldi' (Campari and fluffy orange juice). Pro tip: Visit during 'Martini Hour' (daily 3 PM - 5 PM) for discounted cocktails. It’s a popular spot for celebrities, so keep your eyes peeled while you sip.
Carbone
Carbone is a high-octane tribute to the mid-20th century Italian-American 'red sauce' joints. With tuxedoed captains, a curated 1950s soundtrack, and opulent decor, it feels like a set from a Scorsese film. The food is unapologetically grand, featuring elevated classics like Spicy Rigatoni Vodka and Veal Parmesan. The sensory experience is theatrical, loud, and quintessentially 'New York Glam.' Expert recommendation: The 'Spicy Rigatoni Vodka' is non-negotiable—it is the dish that launched a thousand Instagram posts. Pro tip: This is currently one of the hardest reservations to secure in the world. They drop on Resy 30 days in advance at 10:00 AM sharp; you must be logged in and ready to click immediately. Dressing up is encouraged to match the 'Old Vegas' vibe.
Buvette
Buvette is a 'gastrothèque' that perfectly captures the charm of a Parisian bistro in the heart of the West Village. Chef Jody Williams created a space that feels lived-in, with exposed brick, marble counters, and an abundance of fresh flowers. It’s tiny, cramped, and utterly romantic. The menu features small plates like steamed eggs, tartine, and coq au vin. The sensory experience is intimate, often accompanied by French jazz and the steam of an espresso machine. Expert recommendation: The 'Steamed Eggs with Prosciutto' are a revelation in texture. Pro tip: They do not take reservations. To avoid a long wait, visit for an early weekday breakfast or a late-afternoon glass of wine and snacks. If there's a line, leave your name and grab a coffee at a nearby cafe on Bleecker Street.
