About
Famous for its pastel-colored houses and the world's largest antiques market, Notting Hill is a charming district with a distinct village feel. Portobello Road Market is the heart of the area, stretching over two miles and offering a treasure trove of silver, rare books, and vintage fashion. The sensory highlights include the vibrant street art and the rhythmic sounds of steel drums during the annual August Carnival. Expert recommendations: Visit the 'Alice's' shop for iconic photos of its red storefront and eclectic antiques. Pro tip: Saturday is the only day all market sections (antiques, food, and fashion) are fully open, but arrive by 9:00 AM to beat the massive tourist crowds. During the week, the area is much quieter and perfect for exploring independent cafes and the famous Electric Cinema.
